This is a fun, sassy read but I would only recommend it to female readers because that is who it is aimed at.  In it, Cannie Shapiro, a writer for the Philadelphia Examiner (just like the author) is forced to examine her romantic life when her ex boyfriend writes a magazine editorial entitled "loving a larger woman" and tells the world their intimate details.  This is one of those quirky books about self examination that really doesn't add anything to the literary world other than some feel good vibes and a bit of escape.  It was recommended to me by a woman who somehow thought that I would enjoy it.  I did enjoy it but I could not really relate to the slightly neurotic female protagonist or the kind of effeminate male characters she meets.  Not that the male characters were effeminate as such but they were definitely written without much care as to the make-up of the male mind.  On the other hand, the story is told from Cannie's point of view and she struggles with men so it is no small wonder that the men in the book do not make much sense.  If you enjoy a feel-good story aimed at women in their twenties to forties I am quite certain you will enjoy this book.  You will probably even find your self laughing and thinking "Oh yeah, I've been there".  If you are more like me and, therefore, have not "been there" you will probably get less out of this book.
